miles walked in my shoes

well at least tonight while i was at work 80) - i'll explain-

One night while working and running my medium sized tuckus off up and down the halls, i got curious and wondered just how many feet/miles we nurses averaged in a night. Well six months later i finally bought a pedometer during one of my late night shopping trips to wal-mart. (side note- wal-mart and smiths marketplace are the only two things open 24hrs in ogden, so needless to say i spend a lot of time shopping at 0200) anywaysssss. So tonight was the first night i wore my pedometer to work and it was not a very busy night for me. My totals were

Steps 8524
miles 4.25

granted this is over a 12 hr period, however studies show most adults need 10,000 steps for optimal weight and are only walking an average of 5-6000.
so every one STEP IT UP!!!! 80)

Ok so it has been a while, sorry. I am sure i have been missed greatly 80) anyway today i took an entrance exam for this nursing program i have applied to. I was a little worried because it has been a little while from my last nursing book test. Well i don't want to toot my own horn but i am gonna.

My final composite score 82
North America average score 55
Average school score 67

standard score table
950-1000 excellent
850-940 superior
750-849 average

my school is averaging a 909 in the superior and i got a perfect 1000!!! i was so happy. I am excellent 80) then after this test i had to do an essay on why i want to be a nurse (i hate those). I wont hear for sure till they get my transcripts but things are lookin good.

There is a tech school that is starting op a new nursing program. The Utah state board of nursing is checking them out this thurs March 1st. If approved for a program i would be able to start April 2nd. There would be 10 of us in the first program because the first go around they are only taking LPN's. It would be a six month program and I could have my RN by the end of the year!!!
I do think the school will be approved because the facility is new and large but a few extra prayers never hurt anything or anyone. 80)

Va over the weekend

Well over last weekend i got to go to VA and visit the rents and spend time with boo!! I got to buy cute clothing and see many of my good friends 80) i love it and i do miss VA. OH YEAH did i tell everyone that i love manuel! he will now be the only one to cut my hair, he is expensive but worth it. Anyway i am just back to my boring life of school and work.

Valentines Day

Hello, well as we approach a sometimes hated date i would like to offer this thought. I hear from many people they hate Feb 14th because they are not in a relationship or they don't have a S.O. My response to them is why do you have to be in a relationship to celebrate. Valentines day is about love, why not spread a little extra much needed love to anyone you encounter on the day. As with most holidays this date has now become more about the gifts and candy. I say make some extra valentines and give them to people you don't know, people you pass on the street, your checker at the grocer..... you get the idea.
The justification, doing good to others generally makes you feel better, so if you are feeling a little down or if you just feel like making some random people smile 80) cause i know that i do. sending my love to all, Happy up coming Valentines Day!!!!

ok i am new at these long posts so ya'll will have to start at the bottom and scroll up.

Then we did a little more shopping and tried on some crazy clothes and bought sarah some of her signature perfume that she cant get in Idaho. We were cutting it close so Christine drove hell bent for glory to the airport where sarah and i grabbed our stuff and ran in to the airport to catch out flight, we didn't even have time to hug cristine. 80( we made out flight and all was well.

We then walked through town, we stopped at some shops and bought some little stuff. We went to this great chocolate shop, we bought some crazy types of chocolate to share and i bought steph this sign. I love it!!! it is true too.




while walking back up the dock sarah spotted something, that something was a SQUISHIE aka a jelly fish. The first one was dying we think cause i kept swimming in circles and was farther away but as we walked up a few more feet there was another. Sarah held my hair back while i took the pic.

On monday we hung around poulsbo, there was this rock that sarah wanted to climb down by the water. When we arrived the "site" was undergoing some construction and was fenced off. Christine and i were rebels and got some pics with "the rock" but sarah said she could not break the law and honestly did not pass into the fenced area 80)

Sunday we got up and went to church with christines fam. We hung out the rest of the day in Hansville where christines fam lives and where i bought boo some honey from a local hanesville hive thing (i don't know the correct name boo)




We did attempt to find a place to go dancing but after leaving the drunken show that is Cowgirls Inc (a wanna be coyote ugly with girl not as cute) we didn't find anything so we went back to our poulsbo inn and crashed.




I put on my crazy new shoes and we went to dinner and met christine's boy Josh and his friend Brad (who is madly in love with sarah)




Later on we went shopping and that is when i purchased my Minnie Mouse shoes 80)
Christine did have to convince me to get them, now i love 'em.




Our first stop was at a poulsbo store to grab some sushi and soup.

Hello, this weekend i am in seattle. We (sarah a. and I) came to visit our good friend christine. Sarah and i were quite tired on sat, explination will follow. Sarah is attending school at BYU Idaho (aka ricks), she took a shuttle down to SLC fri evening while i worked. Sarah then went out on a date and was sup to meet me at my apt at midnight, she arrived at 0330 am (due to some construction and confusion)we then stayed up and talked till my boyfriend ben came and picked us up at 0630 to take us to the airport. We were anticipated to leave at 0800 but becuase my sister-in-law loves me and let us use a buddy pass we were standby. Our flight was delayed till 1245pm and we then got 2 hrs of sleep in the plane. We arrived in seattle to meet christine at the airport. We drove to a little scandinavian(sp?) town Poulsbo where we are staying and checked into ouw hotel. We went shopping and then out to dinner to meet christines boyfriend (we approve). We attempted to find a place to dance but ended up just walking around and then just going back to our hotel to crash. 80) sarah and i made it almost 48 hrs on 2hrs of sleep!!! Sunday we went to church, met christines family(pets included - and there are many) and then hung out and watched some movies sarah had missed while on her mission. Today we are going to make the trip back to ut after some breakfast and some shopping. 80) i love my friends and i forgot how much fun i have while i am with them. -- photos will follow soon-

A.S. !!!!

Ok I am excited!! at the end of this semester i will have my official Associates Degree in Science. All that really means to me is that i never have to take another math class again. WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO only this semester of math to finish it out.

I love my job

Nothing very significant happened last night at work, just the same old stuff. This morning while reporting to the next nurse on shift i couldn't help but feel she just did not really want to be at work today (this is not the first time i have felt this from this person). When she first began working at our hospital she was happier and usually smiled when she came in, that has stopped. This just made me realize how important it is to love what you do. Granted that not every day i wake up wanting to go into work but when i am there i love what i do, i arrive happy and ready to start my next 12 hr adventure. To me the day you do not enjoy what you are doing is the day you need to look for a new job especially in my line of work. I know our surgical floor can run you ragged and leave you exhausted but that is our floor and you have to really be ready for it cause it never slows down. I guess i just wish that every one who came into work would at least smile because if i don't see a smile i interpret into something i did/didn't do. I know i don't effect every one and not every one is all smiles when coming into work but it is something that i feed on 80) I need smiles just like i need my sunshine 80)

BURRRRRRRR

Holy crap I am freezing! It is a balmy 5 degrees here in Ogden this a.m. and I am hating it. At this point in time i am only warm covered in about 3 blankets or in the bath tub, other than that i am cold. I usually like the winters here but this one is packing a lot more bite and not so much snow. 80) love ya'll
