some christmas photos

Christmas day, after a long night of working (no sleep in between) I headed to the airport to meet up with my Grandma Harbour who flew in from sacto. We came into missoula and then headed out to Saundi's in-laws for their traditional christmas prime rib.

Later we did dinner at Derek and Beth's house with the addition of the two fore mentioned and auntie viccie.

Then after what seemed like forever for Derek, we opened presents

Even sue Saundi and Matt's dog got in on the action by hopping up on matts lap.

It was christmas

On christmas eve Ogden got hit with a huge snow storm and it turned the roads into an ice rink. It took me an hour to get to my hospital that usually takes me 10 min to get to. I had to stop on the side of the road and put on chains to the back tires of the burb (not fun and not pictured!) i had not planned to lay in the diry snow and suck in exhaust! 80) but at least I knew how to save myself.

Pictured is one of many cars that got stuck on the road.

What fun, later I'll post christmas photos.

You're To Kill a Mockingbird!

by Harper Lee

Perceived as a revolutionary and groundbreaking person, you have
changed the minds of many people. While questioning the authority around you, you've
also taken a significant amount of flack. But you've had the admirable guts to
persevere. There's a weird guy in the neighborhood using dubious means to protect you,
but you're pretty sure it's worth it in the end. In the end, it remains unclear to you
whether finches and mockingbirds get along in real life.

belated happy thanksgiving

Well Ben and I celebrated thanksgiving on Sunday because his fam went out of town and we both had to work Thurs, Fri and he worked sat. Anyway..... I cooked a meal and it was great! I cooked a 13lb turkey (sage parm garlic rubbed), mashed potatoes, and an apple pie. I was so excited my apple pie turned out awesome (the last pie I made was not so great). We also had pomegranate with marshmallow cream, corn, green beans, rolls of course martinele's (sp?)

I was able to bake so many wonderful things thanks to my new KitchenAid mixer! It is my Christmas present.

This a.m. I made some of my mom's bran muffins cause I had been missing them. 80)

The crunch has begun

Well like I said, the crunch has begun for NCLEX! ... again. With 12 weeks to graduation I have two NCLEX books to complete in order to do this I have 50 questions a day out of one book and 6 chapters a week out of the other. This on top of my regular assigned work. I am kinda scared because I feel that there is still so much I don't know. Hopefully I will feel better prepared in about 12 weeks. 80) love ya'll

it's cookin time again

I love the fall for many reasons, one of them is that I can cook in my apartment without it reaching 110 degrees. A few days ago I cooked an Eggplant Parm dish

Tonight as Steph drove down from MSO I made some pumpkin cookies and instead of putting chocolate chips in them... I hand dipped them. 80)

my color

you are violet
#EE82EE

Your dominant hues are red and blue. You're confident and like showing people new ideas. You play well with others and can be very influential if you want to be.

Your saturation level is lower than average - You don't stress out over things and don't understand people who do. Finishing projects may sometimes be a challenge, but you schedule time as you see fit and the important things all happen in the end, even if not everyone sees your grand master plan.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

fun weekend

My living room is empty coming home from work this a.m. as yajaira has packed up and headed back home to kansas city, MO. I have had such a great time but especially this past weekend.

On friday i didn't have anything planned so we slept in and then yajaira made a an authentic Dominican breakfast of mangu (mashed plantains with onions) and eggs. We then spent the day shopping. We drove out to Park City at night to watch one of her friends bands preform, Natural Roots, reggae music. After watching some hilarious people who had no rhythm(not the band) we drove into SLC and went to a Colombian eatery that is open till 0400 and had some great latin food. I was the only "white" person in the joint but I didn't mind and it helped me refresh on my little bit of spainsh.

Sat we slept in again, met some other friends for lunch, slept, saw a salsa band and went back the the Colombian eatery.

It was wonderful to catch up with such a good friend, my couch and blow up mattress will miss being used. 80)

more pics from a fun day

a fun day!

So today is a day I got to spend with yajaira, we decided to hang out in Ogden. I am learning to embrace my city and all the wonderful things about it. We first went to the temple grounds and walked around. So many people disregard the Ogden temple but I think it has it's own beauty. I tool this awesome pic on the temple grounds in front of the tabernacle.

after the temple grounds we went to the new complex which has a ton of stuff! We went into Fat Cats which is a fun center and has bowling, arcade and mini golf. Yajaira loves skeet ball, fat cats had three different skeet ball games. I have not played skeet ball in forever and we had so much fun.

These are what we won, a Chinese finger trap for each of us and a squisshie ball for Yajaira!!! The complex also has an indoor sky diving center, a surfing simulator, a rock climbing wall, and a few other places.

Yeah and the indoor sky diving!! we are seriously thinking about doing this next week! It looked amazing and we got to watch a little girl trying the sky diving and in between the instructor jumped in and did some awesome stuff. Our feet were hurting so we grabbed some baind aids from the store and grabbed some Baskin-Robbins.

After that we walked around 25th street looking at the shops. We went into Union Station and looked around at the forest service museum but it was closed. We then drove up 25th st and looked at some wonderful old houses, one is on Yajaira's phone but it is for sale and gorgeous. !! I'll post it when she email me (boo I think you'll love it). We then drove by a spa that I saw online, it is Hawaiian based spa and we went in and took a look.

and now we are back at my apartment hanging out and painting our toenails with the orange nailpolish from A Lani spa. It was a great day in Ogden and I plan on having many more. Ogden rocks!! (it helps that Yajaira rocks too)

Nice night

Well tonight was an unexpected nice night. I headed out to clinics with DeAnn, when we got to the hospital they had misplaced there sched and were not prepared to handle 10 students. We just took a tour of the hospital (we are at a new location from last mod) then had a small post conference and that was it. So... some of us went out to grab some food and then went to see a movie. It was a nice chance to hang out with some of us outside of school and get some much needed laughter.

This week

This week.... School as usual, lots of homework so much so that Tuesday my brain would not let me fall asleep. I stayed up till 0530 studying and finishing up assignments then slept till 0730 and had to get up for school. I was able to catch up on that missed sleep however that will not be the only night I have such little sleep. Below I posted pics of the hefty book we have to carry around that weights in at 12lbs (shes a butte). This week I also updated my phone, after reading many Internet reviews which stated it was far superior to the first model I settled on the brand new Chocolate, and counseling with Steph we decided the dark blue was the best color.
While at the mall I also stopped by bath and body works because I had some gift certificates and bought what I think is my new fav fragrance Magnolia. I was surprised I enjoyed it because usually all their stuff is too flowery and smelly for me, however this has a nice sophisticated smell.
Then the other pics. 80) That is my beautiful window air conditioner for my fab apartment. I had noted the other night that it seemed to not be cooling as good as it used to. Being busy with other things it got filed into the back of my mind. Last night I took a look at it, after removing the front cover I discovered that 3/4 of the cooling grill was covered in 1" thick ice. I spent the next hour with towels and my hair dryer melting it and then let it dry out over night. Oh the fun of living in a place without central air....but at least I have the means to have a window unit.

So that was about it. Now I get to head into work for a night of fun!!!!! well not really but I have to psych myself out. love ya'll

First week in review

late as usual 80)

Well this first week of nursing school was hectic to say the least. We had to review a bunch of skill that included us giving each other IM (intramuscular) shots in the shoulders and starting IV's on each other. I had to do the IV first and demonstrate for everyone because of my experience. When I got done my hands were shaking so bad, i asked deann if she wanted me to do another (she's who i stuck) and for some reason she declined. 80) Hey it is nerve racking having 10 people looking over your shoulder! We only had to cover four chapters last week but it was just hard to get into the flow of things. This week is looking to be a lot more organized and calm (in perspective). Anyway that was a summary of last week.

First day of school

Well today was the first day of nursing school for me at Stevens Henager. We just had a intro, hand out syllubus and start of chapters for the first half of the day. The second half we had to give each other IM(intramuscular) shots in the shoulder and had to demonstrate some general nursing skills. Here are a couple pics of some of the girls in out class. ps. ashley and i look horrid in our pic 80) bad lighting!! she got a much better one of us i'll post when i get it.

Las Vegas

Ok so my friend Ashley from nursing school and I went for a weekend of fun in Las Vegas from thurs 16th-sun20th. The first night we pigged out on crab legs at this awesome seafood buffet, we watched a little show at the Rio which is like mardi gras without the vulgarity and all the floats are attached to the ceiling of the building.
The second day we went all over the strip shopping and then that night we went out to dance and we were out a little late (4.30am). Sat we did a little more shopping and got to see Bodies... The exhibition which are preserved cadavers and different preserved body systems, it was awesome to see! We also went out to dance sat night but didn't last as long. Sun we got up, ate some breakfast and flew home. We do have some battle scars as Ashley fell on some wet cement fri and I biffed it on some stairs at the Tropicana. I also managed to rip some of my left thumb apart getting into a cab and we both have blisters and bruises from wearing heals two nights in a row dancing. However Ashley who never wears heals is in a lot more pain than I am. 80) here are some pics of our hotel room.

This is the room were we stayed at The Platinum Hotel and Spa. (we got an awesome price online!!)

This is the island in the kitchen and the living room.

This is from the kitchen you can see how the room connects to the living room (it was like a big circle you could walk through the kitchen to the living room into the bedroom and then into the bathroom which connects with the kitchen. )

to the left of the kitchen there is the bathroom and this is a pic through the doorway where you can see the shower.

This was an amazing bathtub I wish I had. It was about 4'x5' and 3'deep with jets all around. There are some fun pics i'll post later when we were soaking our feet the first night and I put way to much bubble bath in.

And these were our fluffy comfortable beds that we crashed on each night or morning.
